Characteristics of 2010 Yiwu Small Commodity Exports
In 2010, Yiwu Customs accepted small commodity exports worthing 8.43 billion, weighting 8,569,000 tons, which have increased by 95.9% and 18.1% respectively. Excluding the Spring Festival in February and March, small commodity export through Yiwu Customs is growing steadily in favorable momentum. In July only, Yiwu Customs exported a total of 0.9 billion U.S. dollars of small commodities, increased by 100%, marking the highest monthly export value over the years.
It is learnt that tourist shopping trade is still the mainstream. From January to December, the tourist shopping exports reached 7.7 billion, accounting for 95.2% of total exports through Yiwu Customs during the same period when general trade exports amount to 410 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 4.5%. Meanwhile, the private enterprises exported 7.52 billion U.S. dollars through Yiwu Customs, accounting for 98.3% of total exports during the same period. Private enterprises take up the absolute dominant position in exports.
In terms of exports, machinery and electronic products, garments and clothing accessories and plastic products are dominant. In addition, glass products, textile yarn, fabric products, travel items and bags, hand or machine tools, furniture and components, artificial flowers, shoes are in the list of top 10 major exports. According to the statistics, Africa, EU and ASEAN are major export markets of Yiwu small commodities. Iran, Iraq, UAE, Malaysia and India are the top export countries of small commodities.
We will wait and see whether Yiwu small commodities exports are able to maintain growth momentum confronting RMB appreciation and price raise of raw materials and many other factors in 2011.
