Three Highlights of 2007 Yiwu International Commodity Fair

Yiwu International Commodity Fair is the only international Fair of daily consumer products that has been approved by the State Council in China. The 2007 session was the 13th session. In order to speed up the market construction, enhance the international competitiveness of the business sector, Yiwu started to strengthen the "five priorities", one of which was to run the Fair well as to promote the development level of modern service. So what will the highlights be in 2007 Yiwu Fair.
The First Highlight: The largest in scale in comparison with the similar Fair.
There were 4,500 international standard booths in the main exhibition hall of the 2007 Yiwu Fair, covered 90,000 square meters, the scale was considered as the No.1 in similar Fairs. Besides the Meihu Exhibition Center, there were branch halls located at the International Trade City, Binwang Market, Huangyuan Market, Knitting Market, Home Appliances Market and The Tele-communication Market. Products such as culture and education office supplies, sports recreation supplies, toys, knitted shoes and hats, make-up washing, Daily hardware, electronic appliances, luggages and leathers, jewelry accessories, craft gifts, home appliances and information networks were exhibited in those exhibition areas. These sub-venue just like the stars around the moon strengthen the charm of Yiwu as the Fair city.
Yiwu Fair has already formed a sound market mechanism of holding exhibitions. Fluttering Fairs and merchants, marketing campaign, and the exploitation of exhibition sources have been finished through the market-oriented operation by professional institutions such as China Commodity City Exhibition Company. Therefor,on one side,China commodity market will be more prosperous and on the other side, Yiwu Fair will be more famous. The two stimulated mutual development.
The second highlight: The internationalization of oversea investment.
2007 Yiwu Fair was the deepest in intensity of attracting investment compared to the previous ones. The delegation of Yiwu held large-scale publicity promotion in some important oversea cities such as Frankfurt, Moscow and Italy besides some sign domestic cities as Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macao.
Looking from the current feedback of merchants, there would be more than 110,000 visitors coming from more than 130 countries and regions attending the Fair. The oversea merchant would be over 17,000 and the proportion of merchants from American and European developed countries would also increase. Attracting oversea merchant speed up the pace of internationalization.
2007 Yiwu Fair would have more than 80 overseas trade team, including more than 10 transnational retail groups. During the Fair, the 58,000 booths in Yiwu market and 4,500 exhibition booths in Yiwu Fair would display more than 400,000 kinds of commodities, bringing unlimited business opportunities to the merchants. Exhibition of China Research Center survey showed that over 92 percent of the visitors would focus on professional and effective parts of the Fair. The index of oversea trade opportunities in Yiwu Fair had rised to 4.756 about two third of that of Canton Fair.
The Third Highlight: Productive companies become main force.
2007 Yiwu Fair, with the theme "Quality promotion, innovation development", compared with the past Fairs, it was more distinctive that companies in this Fair were mainly productive companies. There were 3230 brands companies entering for this Fair, and booking 5520 exhibition booths, and 95% enterprises signed up directly.
By choosing strictly, 2007 Yiwu Fair arranged 2560 outstanding enterprises to take part in this exhibition, among these enterprises, 90% were small commodity producers, and over 210 famous foreign and domestic companies applied for exhibition booths more than 500. This situation was good for direct negotiation between trader and companies, so it could decrease intermediate links, purchase from its source and decrease the cost, which were more attractive to buyers.
In order to be easy to the exhibition for foreign traders, under the support of Foreign office, foreign traders could get visas from embassies abroad by invitations. With the promotion of transportation, it will be more convenient to go to the exhibition than the past. August 1 in this year, the line between Yiwu and Hong Kong is opened; it can go to Hong Kong directly one per day. And from Oct 2, the airline between these two cities is also opened. At the end of Guangzhou Fair, Fair begins, so it benefits for trader to share the resources and decrease their cost. Yiwu Fair met the exhibition change of Guangzhou Fair, and there were average 10 scheduled fights one day between Yiwu and Guangzhou. In addition, it was also very convenient for traders to Hang Zhou, Ningbo and Shanghai by air first, and then by train or bus to Yiwu from above three cities.
