Surrounded by mountains from east, south and north, Yiwu City, with a population of two million, is located in the central place of Zhejiang Province,covering an area of 1105.46 square kilograms(about 426 square miles). On its southern side lies Guangdong and Fujian province, and to the east is the biggest city in China, Shanghai. In the year 222 BC, the Emperor Ying Zheng of the Qin Dynasty set up a county here. At present , it is a county-level government of Zhejiang Province, governing six towns and seven subdistricts. Compared with other major cities in China, although Yiwu city is small, it has the world's largest commodity market. Yiwu International Trade City was awarded the honorary title of China's first AAAA-level shopping tourist area by National Tourism Administration. Go shopping to Yiwu is considered a tour of fashion by more and more tourists.

Yiwu is also the hometown of many ancient celebrities, For example, Luo Bingwang-one of the great patriotic poets in the Tang Dynasty, Zong ze-the patriotic general of Northern Song Dynasty, Zhu Danxi-one of the four famous doctors of Jin and Yuan Dynasty as well as Chen Wangdao, Feng Xuefeng, and Wu Han, all of whom have made their contributions to the modern China. When you walk on the streets in Yiwu, you will find a lot of roads are named after these celebrities.
