With the approaching of New Year, dealers in Yiwu market have started to arrange the food supply. Compared with previous years, this year a lot of imported food distributors have stationed in Yiwu market. Their “foreign food” include drinks, candy as well as marine health products, DIY gift sets which can bring more choices to the local consumers and foreign distributors who have been used to see local special food.
At European Pavilion in Yiwu Agricultural Trade City Famous High Quality Products Center, citizen Mr. Huang and his daughter looked at Swiss cookies for a while and then picked up all kinds of imported Italian macaronis to compare the prices. They chose two full plastic bags of food in less than 10 minutes.
Mr. Huang told Amanda reporter that last year his daughter’s friends sent a few imported food, among which there were Swiss cookies and zircon iron box packaged chocolate. The family tasted and felt pretty good, but at that time there were no such food in Yiwu. “This year we heard there is a European Pavilion so i accompany my daughter to come here to have a look. We did not expect there are so many fresh food. We buy a lot and if taste good, we’d like to come back to buy more before new year.”
In European Pavilion, imported food include cookies, sauces, macaronis, chocolate, candy, red wine, large-size canned beer etc., most of which are imported from Germany, Italy, Belgium and so on. In the Thai Pavilion, there are mainly agricultural food with local characteristics, such as jams, dried fruit, rice, spices, canned fish etc.
It is also learnt that the French Pavilion and South Korean Pavilion will open for business around the New Year’s Day. By then, there will be a larger variety of special food in Yiwu market.
